From Ballston Lake
5 to 10 minutes
Lakehill Road or Route 146A west to Route 50 (Saratoga Road). We are on the main road through Burnt Hills.
Ballston Lake is the closest community to our shop that is not Burnt Hills itself. From the lake, Lakehill Road runs west and meets Route 50 in a few minutes; from the newer subdivisions off Goode Street and Eastline Road, Route 146A does the same. Most of our Ballston Lake customers drop a car off and are back home before the coffee is cold. Highline Motorsports Group is a BMW-only shop: factory-trained BMW Master Elite technicians, factory ISTA diagnostics and coding, genuine BMW and OEM parts, and a dynamometer under our own roof.
Ballston Lake sits across two towns, Ballston and Clifton Park, and across two school districts, so it gets lumped into Clifton Park on most maps. For BMW service that is a bad deal. The dealership is half an hour away in Latham, and most independent shops nearby work on every make that comes in. We are the specialist, and we are also the shortest drive. A check-engine light, a brake-wear warning, a coolant-level message, or a valve cover gasket that has started to smell at stoplights becomes a ten-minute errand instead of a lost day.
The cars we see from Ballston Lake are family cars first: X3 and X5 xDrive, 3 Series and 5 Series xDrive sedans, a growing number of X1s and X2s, and the 4 Series Gran Coupes that replaced the sedans. These cars live outside, make the Outlet Road and Round Lake Road commute every morning, and run on salt for four months a year. The work that follows is predictable: factory-schedule maintenance, brakes, oil leaks from valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets, cooling-system components on cars past 80,000 miles, and xDrive transfer case fluid that BMW calls lifetime and is not.
We also see the second car in the garage. Ballston Lake has lakefront cottages on Lake Road and newer homes with three-bay garages, and a surprising number of them hold an E46 M3, a Z4, or an E92 M3 that only comes out between May and October. Those cars want a different kind of service: VANOS work, rear subframe inspection on the E46, rod bearings on the S54 and S65, and a cooling-system refresh before a track weekend. Because we are BMW-only, that knowledge is already in the building, not something we look up.
The dyno is where Ballston Lake owners get something no dealer offers. A tune on a 335i, a downpipe on an M240i, or a full build on an M3 gets a baseline run and a post-install run with wheel-horsepower numbers you can keep. Being this close means the drop-off and pick-up for a dyno day is trivial, and so is coming back for a second session after the next stage of parts goes on. Engine building, custom exhaust, and fabrication happen in the same building.
A practical note for the summer-car crowd on Lake Road: we offer climate-controlled winter car storage in the same building, with a battery tender and the option to have the spring service done before you pick it up. For the daily drivers, the pre-winter checklist is short and worth doing in October rather than January: battery test and registration, coolant and brake fluid condition, a look at the tires, and a scan for stored faults that have not turned the light on yet. It is a half-hour visit from anywhere on the lake, and it is the visit that keeps the flatbed out of your driveway in February.
Getting here is the easy part. Lakehill Road or Route 146A west to Route 50, and we are on Saratoga Road in Burnt Hills. We are open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Call (518) 280-1762, book through the online scheduler, or send the contact form. If you are on the Clifton Park side of the lake, that page has directions from Route 146; the Burnt Hills page covers the shop itself.
